Updated: Jul 1

Here are summer drink cocktail recipes that have a beautiful color and a few variations that you can mix and match to your mood or spirit of choice!

The first time I had this drink I was at a friend's house and fell in love with its complexity and how easy it is to make!

This summer cocktail is perfect for sunny days, happy hour, or a relaxing weekend afternoon with friends and family. Very simple to make. 4 ingredients. All equal parts

Ingredients:

  • Bourbon - I tend to use Bulleit or Basil Haydens for mixing. You can go full rye here if you wish. I am not one to judge.

  • Aperol - Aperol is an Italian bitter apéritif made of gentian, rhubarb and cinchona and other things. It's 11% ABV. You will see it in spritzers and other fun summer drinks.

  • Amaro Nonino - This is the key ingredients. I have tried other amaro but this one takes the cake. It has a bittersweet taste with a base of grappa infused with herbs like thyme, quinine bark, gentian room, and wormwood. It's magical!

  • Fresh Lemon Juice - Fresh squeezed is best

Now you can mix it up even more if you want more of a margarita flavor. You can swap out the lemon juice for lime juice. Same citrus acid but brings out different notes in the tequila and amaro.

Now go have a cocktail and live life!
